AGE: 74 • Westville

Suddenly, On November 21, 2013. Age 74. Of Westville since 2003. Formerly of the Fairview section of Camden.

Loving son of the late Abraham and Mildred Young (nee Merrell). Cherished Brother of Patricia (late John ) Fontaine of Birmingham, Alabama, David (Connie) Young of Erial and the late Shirley Dooley. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Dearest friend of Patty Keenan Walter of Gloucester City. Lifelong and Best friend of Ben (Bobbie) Gismondi of West Collingswood Heights and Don (Kris) Oerlemans of Westville.

Bill was born in Reading, PA and his family moved to Camden in 1946. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden and then attended the United States Armed Forces Institute. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961. He started as a firefighter for the City of Camden on July 1, 1962. Bill was promoted to Captain in the fire department in 1968 and retired from Camden City Fire Department in October 1992. Bill was dedicated to the City of Camden and to fire service. After retirement, he worked as a waiter for the Latin Casino and Rickshaw Inn. Bill was a member of the ICAC Club in Fairview and Gloucester City. He enjoyed tennis.

Relatives, friends, Camden City Fire Department and ICAC club are kindly invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, November 30 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at McCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME: 851 Monmouth Street, (at Brown Street) Gloucester City. Lutheran Funeral Service and U.S. Navy Military Honors 10:30 am in the funeral home. Cremation private and United States Naval Burial at Sea will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bill's memory to the International Local Firefighters Union # 788 for Toys for Tots Program: P.O. Box 1071, Bellmawr, New Jersey 08099-1071.
