Alice Eloise (Joseph) Spivey

Alice Eloise (Joseph) Spivey, 90, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Alice was born in Yale, Ill., on January 7, 1923, to Walter and Florence (Bodell) Joseph. She was a Navy Veteran and a Veterans Representative at the Indiana State Employment Service (Workforce One) for 27 years. She was a charter member of the Women in Military Service Memorial Association and a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. In her spare time Alice enjoyed crocheting, sewing, shopping and spending time with the grandchildren and family.
Alice is survived by her children, Angela Jenkins (Calvin), Gloria Rex (Charles), Michael Spivey (Rene), Patricia McCord (Ray) and Dennis Spivey (Tammy); grandchildren, Scott Bassemier, Melissa Enoch Rex, Tamrun Sokeland, Jill McGinnis, Keith Harkness, Samantha Spivey, Kaylee Spivey, Christina Spivey, Kamlyn Spivey; stepgrandchildren, Abbey Tinsley and Travis McCord; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Alice is preceded in death by husband of 24 years, Hardie Spivey; her parents; daughters, Charlotte Harkness, Florence Spivey; son, Dane Spivey; brothers, John, Robert and Walter Joseph; a sister, Martha Quick.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, with Rev. Ray Deeter officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform Military Honors.
Friends may visit from 2 until 8 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2013, and again from noon until time of service Sunday at Browning Funeral Home.
