Carmaleta Ilene Thomas Brown

Carmaleta Ilene Thomas Brown, 69, of Evansville, died at 8 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at her home.
Carmaleta retired from the Community Action Program of Evansville, having worked in the energy assistance department. She also worked at Casino Aztar, George Koch Sons and for a long time at Sears.
She served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served in the Indiana National Guard.
She served on the CAPE board and was a member of the Otis Stone Post of the American Legion.
Carmaleta was preceded in death by a daughter, Sabrina Thomas; her parents, Willie Thomas and Velvet Schaffer Thomas; sisters, Sylvia Thomas and Carlene Hall; brothers, Willie IV, Pierre and Jeffery Thomas; and granddaughters, Dy'Chelle and A'vion Brown.
Surviving are daughter, Velvet Maria Tramil, of Evansville; son, Robert Brown (Wanda), of Evansville; sisters, Kathleen T. Wagner, Portland Johnson and Darlene Taylor, all of Evansville, Sunday Thomas, of Houston, Texas, and Mary Hornbeck, of St. Louis, Mo.; brothers, Johnie Dee Thomas, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mark Thomas, of Pawtucket, R.I., Dennis Thomas, of Federal Way, Wash., and Paul Thomas, of Evansville; grandchildren, DeMarco and DeRonika Brown, Jonathan Adams, Andrea Williams, Arties, Robert III and Kei' Aundrea Brown; eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
Services will be at noon Friday, August 2, 2013, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, the Rev. Ted Tempel officiating, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Osborne Funeral Home.
