David Kissinger
David C. Kissinger, 79 of Mt. Vernon, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on July 13, 1934 in Evansville to the late Henry and Elfrieda (Tieman) Kissinger.
He was in the U.S. Navy and served on an icebreaker in the Artic. When he got out of the service he worked at the Farm Bureau Refinery in Mt. Vernon for a time. He then moved to farming full-time until he retired. He loved farming and took great pride in it.
David was a member of The Elks Club and the American Legion in Mt. Vernon and a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School Class of 1952. David was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon where he was baptized, confirmed and also active in the church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in Michigan and Florida with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Majorie A. (Seifert) Kissinger and four children, Tony Kissinger (Tina) of Mt. Vernon, Kim Kissinger Marino (Jerry) of Champaign, Illinois, Tom Kissinger of Mandarin, Florida and Julie Kissinger Foster of Jacksonville, Florida and five grandchildren, Jessica Lawrence (Duane), Wesley Kissinger (Erica), Sarah Reising (Abe), Sally Foster and Nora Marino and 3 great-grandchildren: Emma, Fiona and Jase. David was preceded in death by his sister, Leona (Kissinger) Messimore, and son-in-law Brian Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Immanuel United Church of Christ on Ford Road in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Doug Turner officiating and burial to follow at the church cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, November 1, 2013 at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN and 9:00 am to service time at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of David may be made to Immanuel UCC Cemetery in Mt. Vernon or to Immanuel United Church of Christ.
