David Joseph Trent was born on June 29, 1949 to the late Thomas A. and Mary Jane (Jones) Trent. He went to eternal sleep at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 9th. David graduated from Culver Elementary and the old Central High School. He served in the Marines from 1969 to 1971 where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton. David did a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971. He was a member of the VFW Post 1114, AMVETS 84, DAV, the 40 & 8, and the Marine Corps League. David was of the Catholic faith.
David would rebuild older model cars in his garage. He was an avid Bingo player and loved to play poker.
David is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd; and brothers, Tom and Michael Trent. Survivors include his son, Chad Trent; grandchildren, Tyler and Rachel Trent of Huntingburg, IN; siblings, Karen (Larry) Eberhard and Randall Trent; companion, Donna Cox and Eric, Joseph and Haley Cox; nephews, Douglas (Maria) Bright and Shawn Bright; niece, Marijane Underhill; great nephews, Christian, Gavin, Cole, Wyatt and Rylan, all of Evansville, IN; and many friends and neighbors.
Special thanks to the staff at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab and Gentiva Hospice Care for the special care they gave to David and to all his family and friends who came to visit and care for him.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 15 from 5 to 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Services will be held at 7:00pm with military rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to Sunset Funeral Home in memory of David J. Trent.
