DeWayne Paul Lewis, 57, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at his home.
DeWayne was born in Evansville, Indiana, on May 17, 1957, to Melvin and Susan (Bush) Lewis. He served in the United States Navy from 1974 to 1978, and was a member of the VFW Post 1114. He retired from Whirlpool after 35 years of service. DeWayne enjoyed spending time with his family, especially family vacations in Virginia Beach. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
DeWayne is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joyce Marie (Helfert) Lewis, of Evansville, IN; his children, Maria (Ira) Beumer, of Evansville, IN, Susan (Matthew) Riordan, of Newburgh, IN, Jennifer Lewis, of Evansville, IN, Tony (Kelli) Lewis, of Evansville, IN, and Josey (Natalie) Lewis, of Evansville, IN; his father, Melvin Lewis, of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Reghan, Kiley, Landon, Zoey and Maddelyn; sisters, Karen, Janet and Kristi; and by his brother, Mike.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his mother, Susan (Bush) Lewis.
A celebration of DeWayne's life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at Browning Funeral Home.
