George Gildersleeve Obituary
George E. Gildersleeve
Evansville, Indiana
George Edward Gildersleeve passed on into Heaven on February 11, 2013 at VNA Charlier Hospice Center in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on September 19, 1935 in Spotsville, Kentucky, and was 77 years old. George retired as a truck and trailer mechanic and welder. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean war years. Some of his stays also included North Africa, Lockenheath Airbase in England, and Stateside. During his service in England, he met his beloved wife, Conchita, from Barcelona, Spain, to whom he was married for 55 years. He holds an honorable discharge from the military as a Buck Sgt.
George was a member of Bethel Temple Church where he was part of the church choir, and enjoyed singing in the Living Christmas Tree Program. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very active in his children's sporting activities and belonged to the YMCA for many years. George was not afraid to travel. Visiting many countries, he always brought the goodwill of an American Kentucky heart to everyone he met. We are all going to miss him very much.
Survivors include his loving wife, Conchita, and their three children: John M. Gildersleeve of Newburgh, Indiana, Michelle A. Williams of Santa Rosa, California, and Carol A. Hamilton of Owensboro, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the VNA Charlier Hospice Center in memory of George.
