Kenny Haggard, 92, of Mount Carmel, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Select Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on Monday, February 28, 1921 in Gibson County, Indiana, the son of Harry S. and Clara Compton Haggard. Kenny married M. Belle Shaw on August 1, 1948 in Morganfield, Kentucky; she survives. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II receiving a Bronze Star Medal with Oak-leaf Cluster, Europe-African-Middle Eastern Theaters Ribbon with 1 Silver Battle Star, 3 Overseas Service Bars, Good Conduct Medal, and a Purple Heart Medal. Kenny established Haggard Well Service. He loved collecting coins, gardening and yard work. Kenny is survived by his wife of 64 years; two daughters, Barbara (Paul) Shular and Sue (John) Eagleson; two sons, Barry (Companion Heather Will) Haggard and Brad Haggard; eight grandchildren, Lynette Klostermann, Mona Murray, Johnny Eagleson, B.J. Haggard, Ty Haggard, Gracee Haggard, Addison Drone, Preston Will; six great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Gerald Alan; three sisters; two brothers. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
