Dr. Howard Haas
Dr. Howard Andy Haas, 92, of Huntingburg, died Monday, March 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
He was born December 24, 1920 in Boonville to Andy and Goldie (Baker) Haas. He married Audrey Joyce Fink March 19, 1954 in Conger, MN. Howard graduated from Tennyson High School in 1937; served in the US Army during World War II and spent most of his overseas duty in Burma and India; he attended Evansville College and continued his education at Iowa State University graduating in 1954 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He was in Veterinary practice in Huntingburg for 41 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, V.F.W. Post #2366, and Indiana Veterinary Medical Association. He was preceded in death by: two sisters, Jeannette McGinness and Marian Helmbock.
He is survived by: his wife, Audrey Joyce Haas of Huntingburg; 1 daughter, Nancy Ann (Gary) Salb of Jasper; 3 sons- Ronald Haas of Forest Park, IL, Mark (Diann) Haas & Allen (Stephanie) Haas both of Jasper; and 6 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, EST, Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #2366 Memorial Detail. Rev. Mark West will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm, EST, Wednesday, at the Nass & Son Chapel in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions to: Salem Church or Merom Campership Fund.
