Jacob "John" Seiler, III, 70, of Newburgh, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at the Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
John had worked as the general supervisor in the Model Shop at Whirlpool Corporation before retiring in 1998. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS John King. John was a member of the first graduating class of Rex Mundi High School in 1961, and enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf and watching football.
Surviving John are his wife of 41 years, Sybil (Satterfield) Seiler; a son, Nick (Cindy) Seiler, of Colorado; three grandchildren, Evan, Leia and Michelle Seiler; a sister, Patricia (Darrell) Swedenburg; and two brothers, Ben (Cindy Kotter) Seiler and Mike (Kim Hendricks) Seiler. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Seiler, Jr. and Martha Lucille Brown; grandparents, Jacob and Applelona Seiler, Sr., Ben Mason and Lady Gertrude Overby; and by a brother, David Leon Seiler.
Funeral services for John will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Pierre Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Pierre Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Hamilton Pointe, VNA Hospice nurses Deb and Kelly, the doctors and staff of Oncology Hematology Associates, and Dr. Leslie Fesher with the Indiana University Cancer Center.
