James L. Meyer
Evansville, Ind.
James L. Meyer, 85, passed away, March 17, 2014, in Evansville. He was born January 14, 1929, in Evansville, to Walter and Olga (Strupp) Meyer.
Jim graduated from Central High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Jim owned his own business, Gelhausen & Meyer. He was married to the love of his life, Jacqueline Hohensinner Meyer. They were both very active in Evansville Civic Theater. In later years, Jackie and Jim took many trips all over the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jacqueline; his sister, Marilyn Johnson; and a niece, Marcia Enck.
Jim is survived by his niece, Lynn Rodriguez (John); great-nephew, Patrick Enck; great-niece, Suzie Enck; step-daughter, Pat Thurgood; grandchildren, Emily Weinzapfel (Eric), John Thurgood, Bond Weissmann; great-grandchildren, Mia and Max Weinzapfel.
He had many wonderful friends and never met a stranger.
The family would like to thank the caring people at Woodbridge Health Care, especially Andy and Sue and all the nurses and aids. Also, the wonderful people at Asera Care Hospice, including Pastor Fred, who helped Jim through his final days with care and compassion. Also Delores Posey at River Pointe Health Care.
There will be a private service and burial. Arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes, Meyer Chapel, (812) 424-9288.
