John Earl Bale, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
John was born in Lawrenceville, Illinois, on March 24, 1927 to the late Hayes and Mary (Hipsher) Bale. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. John retired from Whirlpool Corporation after 40 years of service. He was a charter member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. John enjoyed bowling, baseball, playing pool and traveling.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Flora "Flo" (Berberich) Bale; daughters, Pam Meyer (Bob) and Rhonda Gerst (Steve), of Evansville, IN; granddaughter, Kendra Gerst, grandson, Kyle Schimmell; daugther-in-law, Sharron Bale of Owensboro, KY; step grandson, Zach Boyd.
John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sherry Bale, son, Dave Bale, sisters, Ethel Cootes and Helen Williams, brothers, Arthur Bale, Paul "Pat" Bale and James Bale.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 601 Herndon Drive, Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:30 A.M. until service time on Friday at St. Theresa Catholic Church.
