John F. Spindler
Haubstadt, Ind.
John F. Spindler, 91, of Haubstadt, Ind., passed away on August 24, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice in Evansville, Ind. He was born to the late Adam and Theresa (Wannemiller) Spindler on February 17, 1922 in Haubstadt, Ind. He was retired from Emge Meat Packing on August 31, 1987, a WWII Army veteran, a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of St John #345, Haubstadt Sommerfest Inc., St Vincent DePaul, Haubstadt American Legion # 194, VFW Post #2714 in Fort Branch.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Olivia Ruth Spindler, on May 26, 2007; a child; and six brothers and sisters.
He is survived by children, Diana (Larry) Beatty, of Haubstadt, David (Carolyn) Spindler, of Indianapolis, Janet (James) Bryant, of Evansville, Jerry (Kathleen) Spindler, of Greenwood, and Gregory (Cynthia) Spindler, of Indianapolis; and sister, Rita Riedford, of Poseyville; grandchildren, Aaron and Alan Beatty, Christa Keller, John, Adam and Matthew Spindler, Chad Bryant, Joshua, Kimberley, and Kristin Spindler, Mary Beth, Alexander, and Noah Spindler; and stepgrandchild, Dawn Reagan; great- grandchildren, Gretchen, Kaleb, and Cooper Beatty, Courtney, Carly, and Carson Keller, Ryan and Owen Spindler, Amelia Spindler; and stepgreat-grandchild, Rylee Billups.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John will be Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church Father Tony Ernst and Father Brian Emmick Celebrants, with burial in the church cemetery. Military Services will be conducted by the VFW Post #2714 and American Legion Post #194 at the grave site.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Stodghill Funeral Home in Fort Branch with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. and again at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. Family requests donations be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Church or St Vincent DePaul.
