Joseph DeTalente, 55 of Evansville passed away at 9:44 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Joe was born March 16, 1958 in Evansville. He retired from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #136 in April 2013 after 37 years of service. Joe was an active member of the Men's Auxiliary VFW Post #2953. He enjoyed gardening, making and sharing his home-made wine, listening to the Blues, watching his son race in motocross competitions, and cooking. Joe was a very kind hearted, loving man who never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Peggy (McKinley) DeTalente of Evansville, son, Derek DeTalente of Evansville, father, Nelson DeTalente, Sr. of Evansville, sister, Debra (Steve) Hudson of Newburgh, brothers, John (Kim), Nelson, Jr., and James DeTalente, all of Evansville, father and mother-in-law, James and Janice McKinley of Evansville, sister-in-law, Diane McKinley of Mt. Vernon, IN and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his mother, Osie (Bivins) DeTalente.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Minister Brian DeTalente officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Evansville.
Friends may call from 2 pm until 7 pm, Monday, January 13, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel. Friends may also call from 9 am until time of service at 10 am on Tuesday.
