Lillian Trinkel Freschly, 91, of Chrisney, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Kentucky surrounded by her family.
Lillian was born on September 23, 1921 in Centerville, Indiana to the late Jess and Ethel Trinkel. She weighed 2.5 pounds at birth and survived 91 years.
She graduated from Chrisney High School in 1939. She took additional courses in bookkeeping there and worked in positions from clerk to office manager at the Farm Bureau Co-Op in Chrisney, Indiana.
On September 9, 1950 she was married to Allen R. Freschly only weeks before he was sent to fight in the Korean War. Upon his return, they purchased a farm in Ohio Township.
Lillian worked alongside her husband operating the farm, doing the accounting and pitching in as needed with farm chores. She loved gardening, especially her roses, and raised a large garden every summer which provided food for the family.
She was involved in 4-H Clubs, and was the leader of the Silverdale Girls
4-H Club for 12 plus years. She was also a member of the Gingham Home Ec. Club.
She served as financial secretary, youth group leader, and Sunday school teacher at Zion United Church of Christ where she was a lifelong member, and a member of the women's guild group. She also served on the board of the Centerville Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother, J.C., her brother, Frank and her husband of almost 50 years, Allen.
Surviving are her two children, Dean Freschly and his wife, Kay of rural Rockport, IN; Carol Granger and her husband, Jeff of Columbus, OH; Grandchildren, Jonathan Freschly and his wife, Kim of Watonga, OK; Joy Freschly and her fiancé, Josh Dauble of Evansville, IN; Brendan Granger of Santa Monica, CA; Erin Granger of Park City, UT; Two great-grandchildren, Brystal and Avery Freschly of Watonga, OK; Sisters-in-law, Dorothy Freschly, Pearlie Freschly and Joan Trinkel and a niece and nephew, Susan Carey and Steve Trinkel. She also leaves behind her church family and many friends from the Chrisney Community Apartments where she resided in her later years.
She was fond of traveling, needlework, cooking, sewing, crossword, and jigsaw puzzles, treating her family to dining out, taking drives in the countryside and ice cream. She had a sharp memory and always thought of others before herself. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Services are 10 A.M. Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Indiana with Rev. Steve Bennett officiating. Burial is in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Rockport, Indiana.
Visitation is from 3 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday, April 19, 2013 and from 8 A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ and the Centerville Cemetery.
