Lillie Mae (Tabor) Herron

Lillie Mae (Tabor) Herron, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Brauns Nursing Home under Hospice Care.
Lillie was born December 29, 1928, in Rumsey, Kentucky, to the late Wavley and Bennie Mae (Hunter) Tabor. She was 16 months younger than her sister, Lillian. She attended Baker School in Evansville, and graduated in 1947, from Central High School. At Central she was editor in chief of the Centralian Newspaper. She was an aspiring writer and often wrote poems to be read at funerals of family and friends. Lillie was a public accountant and had offices in the 1421 N. Main Building for years. She was active in the Woman's Rotary Club and helped to dissolve the club in the 1990s and instrumental in getting the proceeds donated to USI and Evansville University for Women's Scholarships. Lillie was also a member of Infa-Life Seekers.
Lillie is preceded in death by her parents as well as husband, Vetis Herron; and sister, Lillian Herron.
Lillie is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Rod) Higgins and Mary (George) Barton; sons, Daryl (Sandy) Herron and Carl (Joyce) Herron; 12 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; as well as a brother-in-law, Harold Herron.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with Pastor Randy Bechtel officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Tracie, her hospice nurse, and all of their staff for their loving and compassionate care the past four weeks.
