Evansville, Ind.
Louis Weinzapfel, 83, of rural Evansville, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Deaconess Hospice Care Center.
Mr. Weinzapfel was a lifelong farmer and member of St. Philip Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Marrs Township Fire Department and had served as the Fire Chief from 1979 to 1982. He had made 1222 runs with the fire department.
Surviving Louis are five daughters, Susan Weinzapfel, of Mount Vernon, Julie (Bruce) Richey, Mary (Thomas) Johnson, both of Evansville, Patricia (Jeff) Russell, of Mount Vernon, and Laura (Brock) Boyle, of Owensville, Ind.; a son, Thomas (Marlene) Weinzapfel, of Mount Vernon; and three sisters, Mildred Blankenberger, of Haubstadt, and Lucy Schmitt and Martha Schmitt, both of Poseyville. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Doris (Tenbarge) Weinzafpel in 2009; by a brother, Charles Weinzapfel; and by two sisters, Mary Margaret Mesker and Rose Nellis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Claude Burnes officiating. Burial will follow in St. Philip Church Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at St. Philip Catholic Church, 3500 S. St. Philip Road, Mount Vernon, IN.
