Maxine Lowe Ryan, 90, of Evansville passed away Monday January 28, 2013, at Willow Park.
Maxine was born in Evansville on March 9, 1922, to the late J. Max and Eddie Lee (Bruner) Lowe. She was a graduate of Bosse High School and attended Indiana University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. In later years she returned to college to finish her degree, and in 1957 graduated from Evansville College.
For 29 years Maxine was the Branch Manager of Burroughs/Unisys Corporation. She was an active volunteer in her community, serving on the Board of Directors for Easter Seals, and twice managing its annual letter appeal. She was active in the March of Dimes and the Junior League, and enjoyed helping with Bosse High School Class of 1939 reunions. An avid reader, Maxine also did jigsaw puzzles, worked the daily crosswords, played Bridge and loved to cook.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, J. Max and Eddie Lee Lowe; daughter, Frances Kovacs; son, Phillip Ryan; and brother, Jack Lowe.
Throughout her adult life Maxine's top priority was always her family. Surviving are her twins, Michael Ryan, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Martha Ryan Wooden and husband, Joe, of Marietta, Ga.; daughter-in-law Margaret Ryan, of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Carrie Zanota, of Raleigh, N.C., twins, Gregory Kovacs, and Ana Kovacs Peronti and husband, Julio, of San Carlos, Brazil, Phillip Ryan, of Memphis, Tenn., Matthew Ryan and wife, Betsy, of Las Vegas, Nev., Katherine Huie and husband, David, of Kennasaw, Ga., Thomas R. Wooden and wife, Kimi, of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Rachel Ryan Ruth and husband, Will, of Portland, Oreg.; six great-grandsons; four great- granddaughters; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday February 1, 2013, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave., Evansville, IN 47714.
Funeral service will begin noon Friday at the funeral home
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
