Milladean Hill
Evansville, Ind.
Milladean (Scott) Hill, 89, of Evansville, passed away on August 31, 2014 at Newburgh Healthcare Center. Milladean was born in Blackford, Ky., on July 11, 1925 to the late Herbert and Annie Scott.
She grew up in Princeton, Ky., and graduated from Cobb High School in 1943; moving to Evansville in the 1950s.
Milladean retired from UMWA Health and Retirement Funds as a Field Services Representative in 1986. After retirement, she volunteered as a Pink Lady for St. Mary's Medical Center for several years.
Milladean had a wonderful sense of humor and was a caring and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a very deep faith, and was an active member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending services. Many of her Vann Avenue Church family stayed in touch with her, and she valued their friendship very much. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan, enjoyed reading her bible, listening to gospel music, solving word find puzzles, playing Scrabble and spending time with her family and friends.
Milladean was a 14-year breast cancer survivor, and battled chronic kidney disease for more than six years. Although she faced numerous health challenges for many years, she fought courageously and never gave up, determined to make the most of each day.
Milladean was preceded in death by her parents.
Milladean is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (Bill) Nix, of Evansville; sisters, Dorothy Martin, of Louisville, Ky., and Geralene (James) Anderson, of Princeton, Ky.; brothers, Charles W. (Hazel) Scott, of High Point, N.C. and Herbert L. (Bettie) Scott, of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; grandsons, Jon Gieneart and Reid Gieneart, stepgrandson, Chad Nix, all of Evansville; cousin, Brenda (Wayne) Schonabaum, of Evansville; nieces and nephews.
Milladean was blessed to have many wonderful people in her life; and her family would like to thank the staff of Newburgh Healthcare Center, Dr. Edward Fox and the staff of Hematology Oncology Associates, and Drs. Vijay Bhasin and James Evanson and the staff at Nephrology Associates for the compassion, kindness and care they provided to her; close friend, Ginger Miller, along with many dear friends who cared so much about her, calling and visiting her regularly.
