Newman "Bud" Corbett, Jr., 81, of Newburgh, Indiana, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
Bud was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 24, 1932 to the late Newman W. Corbett, Sr. and Mary L. (Huck) Denton. He was a graduate of Central High School and Mechanic Arts. Bud served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 16 where he was a 50 year member. After retirement, Bud and his wife, Shirley owned and operated Hornbeck-Corbett Home Builders for 20 years. He was a member of Bethel Church and a former member of Faith Lutheran Church. Bud was also a member of Masonic Lodge #174, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, Swords of Bunker Hill and the VFW. He enjoyed going to the Frog Follies and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bud is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shirley Hornbeck Corbett of Evansville, IN; daughter, Karen Corbett; sons, Fred (Patti) Corbett, Robert "Bob" (Lisa) Corbett; step sons, Richard W. (Twila) Hornbeck all of Newburgh, IN, Tony (Teresa) Hornbeck of Mt. Vernon, IN; sisters, Shelley (Jeff) Rush of Clearwater, FL and Linda Harmon of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Jami (Adam) Horn, Kati, Jessica, Jonathan (Ann) and Logan (Kinsey) Corbett, Whitney (David) Clark; step grandchildren, Christopher (Nichole), Samuel, Derek, Abigail and Jesse Hornbeck, Elizabeth (Stuart) Kandel, Levi and Kinsley Shannon; great grandchildren, Sarah and David Corbett; step great grandchildren, Amelia and Oliver Kandel.
Bud was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Spillman Corbett; his parents; siblings, Betty Joe Barrett and Jimmy Wayne Corbett.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Don Gray and Pastor David Schwambach officiating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 12:00 Noon until 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Browning Funeral Home where a Masonic service will be held at 5:00 PM.
