Norman L. Heerdink
Evansville, Ind.
Norman L. Heerdink, 88, passed away on February 24, 2014 at Hamilton Pointe. He was born in 1925 to Anton and Julia Heerdink. He had four brothers. Norman served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the South Pacific and was a Navy Sea-Bee. Norman was a lifetime member of the VFW. He loved model trains and along with his twin brother, Nester, had a display at the Evansville Museum for many years. Norman was formerly a carpenter and loved to make and fix anything. All those around Norman knew he had a wonderful sense of humor and was always the jokester. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He was loved by his family and friends and will be missed.
Norman was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie, in 2012. He was also preceded in death by his son, Ronald. Survivors include his children, Judy Myers, Julie Fine, Tonya (Allen) Gee, Jeffrey Overton, and Robert Heerdink; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military rites in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made, in memory of Norman Heerdink, to the .
