Raymond W. Hill

Raymond W. Hill, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Evansville Protestant Home.
He graduated from Central High School and was a member of the Newburgh American Legion, Kapperman Post #44 and the Evansville Masonic Lodge #64. He served in the US Navy during WWII on a destroyer escort. Ray took an active role and was a long time participant in organizing the reunion for the USS Kearny DD432. He enjoyed playing tennis and was very supportive of the YMCA Camp Carson in Princeton, IN. He retired from Indiana Bell and was a member of the Pioneer Club and a beloved member of St. Lucas UCC.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Ora Hill; mother, Amelia Hill; sister, Lucy Mae Hessler; and former wife, Mildred A. Hill.
He is survived by his son, Steven E. (Charlotte) Hill; wife, Sarah Martha Henson-Hill; step-children, Allan (Paula) Henson and Kendra (Jim) Craig; grandchildren, Robert Henson, Jayne Goode, Hilary Cecconi and Lucas Grannan; great-grandchildren, Isaac Henson, Noah Henson, Sophia Henson, Luca Cecconi and Seamus Goode.
Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 12, 2014, at St. Lucas United Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor Lynn Martin. Friends may visit Monday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Lucas United Church of Christ Breakfast for the Homeless, 33 W. Virginia Street, Evansville, IN 47710. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
