Robert M. Bannister, age 81, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 27, 2012, under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice at his home. Mr. Bannister was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Jane in 2005; four brothers, Marion, Ernie, Garnet and Waldo Bannister; and four sisters; Marge Lang, Martha Dean, Mildred Ault and Charlene Starnes. He retired from Ashland Oil in 1985 after 30 years of service. Mr. Bannister was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korea War, as a paratrooper in the 24th Airborne Division. He was a member of the Pond River Masonic Lodge in Greenville, KY, a KY Colonel and lifetime member of the VFW #5478 Survivors include: 3 Sons:John and his wife Teresa BannisterTony and his wife Martha Bannister both of Henderson Derek and his wife Jo Bannister Madisonville, KY 2 Brothers: Lloyd Bannister Columbus, IN Walter Bannister Taylorsville, IN 1 Sister: Ruth Bannister Columbus, IN 10 Grandchildren: Preston Bannister, Heather Cornwell, Robin London, Kayci Bannister, Ashley Titzer, Ben Titzer, Lindsey McCarthy, Chase Bannister, Brad Howard, & Katelyn Howard 13 Great-Grandchildren Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Brother John Culbertson will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to: Wounded Warrior Project. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 PM Monday evening, at the funeral home.
