Robert 'Bob' L. Clayton

Robert "Bob" L. Clayton, 88, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Sunday, December 8, 2013, at his home.
Bob was born in Princeton, Ky., on April 25, 1925 to the late Frances (Bridges) and Robert Clayton.
He was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and also received naval training at the University of Illinois. Bob served in United States Navy during WWII where he was assigned to the Navy's Armed Guard Unit. He served on merchant ships as a signalman and sailed extensively throughout the world. Bob was a Kentucky Colonel and retired from GMAC after 32 years of service as manager of the Evansville office.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Carole Johnson (Dennis) and Susan Scott (Randy); grandchildren, Kali and Kyle Johnson, Ethan and Mya Scott; brothers, James "John D." Clayton and Charles "Buddy" Clayton.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Betty Sue (Boyd) Clayton; and his parents.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Steve Clayton officiating, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
