Robert W. Chambers, 80, born on April 7, 1933, passed away Thurs. April 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
Bob graduated from Chandler High School in 1951 where he played basketball, graduated from Evansville College in 1959 and received his Master's Degree from Indiana University. He was a Social Studies Teacher at Boonville High for 36 years and later taught at Ivy Tech and Indiana State University at Alcoa.
Bob served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955 on the USS Zellars (DD777). He was a member of the Boonville American Legion Post 200 and member of the First Baptist Church where he served multiple roles including Sunday School Teacher for many years.
He was President of the Warrick Co. Teachers Association and served on the State Board of the Indiana State Teachers Association. He was President of the Warrick Co. Council On Aging, Inc. He served on the Board of Directors for many years at the Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union and was Superintendent of Scales Lake State Park for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill & Irene Chambers and sister, Carolyn Clark.
Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Neff Chambers; daughters, Tedra Little (Jim) and Sue Miller (Jay); grandchildren, J. Little and wife, Lucy Little, Jillian Miller and Caroline Miller; brothers, Ron Chambers and Jim Chambers (Jean); sister, Ruth Ann Enot (Paul John); and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 2:00 PM Monday April 29, 2013 at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Boonville with military rites by the Warrick County Veterans Memorial Services.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday and from 12 Noon until service time Monday at Koehler Funeral Home Boonville Chapel.
Memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
