Ruby Irene (Finkbeiner) DeShaney, 83, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Casey Healthcare Center in Casey, Ill.
Ruby was born in Miles City, Mont., on June 23, 1929, to the late Henry and Augusta I. (Presser) Finkbeiner. She attended St. Mary's of the Woods College in Terre Haute, Ind., and Indiana University in Kokomo, where she was proud to be a part of the IU Kokomo Singers. Ruby was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald James DeShaney, of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Janice (Greg) Kahre, of Evansville, Ind.; son, Michael (Terry) DeShaney, of Francisco, Ind.; sisters, Lucille Thomas, of Las Vegas, Nev., Violet M. Zimmerman, of Wolf Point, Mont.; grandchildren, Anthony Lee, Michele Lee, Katie (Michael) Bommerland, Jamie DeShaney and Benjamin Kahre; and seven great-grandchildren.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl M. DeShaney; and a brother, Walt Finkbeiner.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Tom Wenig officiating. Entombment will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Browning Funeral Home.
