Thelma June (King) Grimwood, 91, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center in Evansville, Ind. She was born June 20, 1921, in Bulktown, Ind.
She worked at Whirlpool during the war and was referred to as one of the "Rosie the Riveters." She also worked at TS&S Manufacturing and retired from Ball Plastics after 35 years. June was a Methodist. She belonged to the Eagles, VFW Ladies Auxilliary, Elks, AARP and AAA. June's great passion was cooking for her family. She also enjoyed quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clarence "Slim" Grimwood; sisters, Edith Madriaga and Dorothy Furman; brothers, Welborn and James King; and her parents, Ferris and Ethel King.
June is survived by daughter, Paulette L. Hart (Stan), of Evansville; sons, Clarence R. Grimwood (Sharon), of Haubstadt, Robert Grimwood (Terry), of Evansville, David L. Grimwood (Theresa), of Boonville, Charles E. Grimwood (Linda), of Evansville; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her dog, Buddy.
Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday, 1 to 6 p.m. and Monday 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
