Thomas H. "Tom" Kempf, Sr., age 80, of Evansville, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the Heritage Center.
Tom was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County and was the owner of Tri-State Environmental Products. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a life member of both VFW Post #1114 and American Legion Funkhouser Post #8.
Surviving Tom are his wife of 59 years, Geraldine "Jerri" (Rumage) Kempf; four sons, Thomas H. (Sheldona) Kempf, Jr. and Carl S. Kempf, both of Evansville, Richard S. (Laura) Kempf of Deerfield, IL, Patrick (Dathel) Kempf of Evansville; two sisters, Barbara (Roy) Ritzert and Patricia (Kenny) Tenbarge, both of Evansville; two brothers, James (June) Kempf and Ronald (Linda) Kempf, both of Evansville; eight grandchildren, Severin (Amy) Kempf, Sarah (Jeff) Woehler, Karly Kempf, Cory Kempf, Natalie Kempf, Erin Kempf, John Kempf and Andrew Kempf and nine great grandchildren, Simon, Lucy, Adrian, Sophia and John Kempf, Kiersten and Kyle Woehler, Malachi Kempf and Benjamin Kempf.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, William and Leoda (Koch) Kempf, Sr.; brother, William Kempf, Jr. and two children, Stephen and Angela Kempf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, Rev. Eugene Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, where there will be a memorial service conducted by the church at 5:00 P.M. Friends may also visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Roy Defries, Deaconess Hospital nurses and staff and Heritage Hospice for their compassionate care of Tom.
