Tony D. Forbes, 85 of Evansville passed away at 11:59 am, Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Golden Living Center Brentwood.
Tony was born November 3, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri the son of the late Tony Forbes and Rose (Rein) Forbes Prost. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines serving during the Korean Conflict. Tony was a member of Pentecostal House of Prayer. He had worked for Indiana State Highway Department. Tony enjoyed fishing, camping, flea markets, travel and cookouts. He played guitar and sang for Country Strings and Cracker Jacks in Evansville as well as Tar Babies in Tampa, Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Delberta Grace (Stateler) Forbes of Evansville, children, Pam Forbes, Christien Etherton, Tonda Forbes, Bobbie Forbes and Terry Forbes (Jenny), step-children, Delores Malden, Edgar Leistner, Jr. and Dwayne Lant, Sr. (Carline) and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, children, Toby, Tony Jr. and Tina Forbes and step-son, Hubert A. Lant.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and the staff and residents of Golden Living Center Brentwood.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home - 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Brother Alfred "Happy" Lott officiating and the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Richland, IN.
Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Friday, August 29, 2014 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home and again from 1 pm until time of service at 2 pm, Saturday.
