Warren Shourds, 92 of Evansville passed away at 8:10 am, Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home.
Warren was born November 5, 1920 in Spencer County, Indiana the son of Fred and Mamie (Moore) Shourds. He was a veteran of the United States Air Corp serving during WWII where he was awarded four Bronze Stars. Warren was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was a manager for Kenny Kent Dealerships. Warren was the oldest living retired Indiana sheriff and a member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association.
He is survived by children, Michael (Rosemary) Shourds of Southside, AL, Larry (Vicki) Shourds of Rockport, IN, Richard Cadick of San Diego, CA. and Gwendalyn Jeffers of Evansville, 6 grandchildren, Brian Jeffers, Jason Shourds, Stephanie Hayden, Ashley Obermeier, Shon Shourds and Melissa Fritchly and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 55 years, Pearl Shourds in 2011 and two brothers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Susie Ludwig, the caregivers from Homeinstead and Karen and John Peninger who are going to share special memories in Warren's honor.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Mitch Gieselman and Reverend Karen Devaisher officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform full military rites.
Friends may call from 3 pm until 7 pm, Monday, March 18, 2013 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel and again from 9 am until time of service at 10 am, Tuesday.
