William 'Bill' R. Harper
William "Bill" R. Harper, age 85, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Redbanks Nursing Home.
Bill was born in 1929, to Robert and Etolia Erwin Harper. He was married to the beautiful, Jane Brown Harper, for 44 years. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from the Evansville Police Department after 20 years of service. Bill also worked at Evansville Concrete Company. Bill was a Hadi Shriner for many years. He was very involved with his family; he treasured spending time with all of them. Bill had a special love for the ocean. He and Jane had a beach house that they vacationed to every year for 22 years. Bill loved the outdoors, his favorite pastime was fishing. He was a huge Nascar and UK Basketball fan.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Danny Brown; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jane Brown Harper, of Henderson, KY; son, Steve Harper, of Evansville, IN; daughter,Mary Jane Brown Kilgore, of Henderson, KY; two brothers, Richard Harper, of Evansville, IN, and Kenneth Harper, of Evansville, IN; two grandchildren, Keith Brown, of Henderson, KY,and Bridget Kilgore Crooks, of Evansville, IN; six great-grandchildren, Hayley Brown, Zack Brown, Mason Brown, Phoenix Blevins, Stormy Blevins and Aspen Blevins; nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bill's Life Celebration from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and again on Wednesday starting at 9 a.m. at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at the funeral home with the Reverend Tim Hobbs officiating. Entombment will follow at Fairmont Mausoleum in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.
