William F. 'Red' Richardson
Fort Branch, Ind.
William F. "Red" Richardson, 92, of Fort Branch, Ind., passed on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Woodland Nursing Home in Newburgh, Ind. He was born on September 7, 1920, in Vincennes, Ind., to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Martz) Richardson. Red was retired from the C&EI Railroad. He was a WW II Veteran serving in the U.S. Army, where he was a P.O.W. in Germany, a Member and Past Post Commander of VFW Post #2714, and a member of the Haubstadt American Legion Post #194. Red was also a member of the St. Lucas United Church of Christ in Fort Branch, IN.
He is survived by two sons, Steve (Becky) Richardson, of Newburgh, Ind., Michael Richardson, of Antioch, Calif.; four grandchildren, Jason and Adam Richardson, Cari Schlunt, and Jill Koch; two brothers, Frank Richardson, of Vincennes, Ind., Harold Richardson, of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one sister, Catherine Swayze, of Mitchel. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 1 p.m. CST/ 2 p.m. EST at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, Ind., Pastor John Huemann will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #2714 and American Legion Post #194 at the graveside. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon at the Stodghill Funeral Home located on Hwy. 168 West in Fort Branch, Ind. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Lucas United Church of Christ in Fort Branch. Expressions of sympathy can be made at www.stodghillfuneralhome.com.
