Alan Neil Burk Obituary
Alan Burk, 65, passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, June 29, 2013, with family and friends by his side. Service: 3:30 p.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 720, 4171 Sarita Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76109. Alan was born Aug. 11, 1947, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1965 and attended the University of Texas where he was a Sigma Nu. Alan enjoyed his early adult years in Idaho where he made a number of lifetime friends. He returned to Fort Worth in 1981 and continued the family real estate business. For decades, clients enjoyed his homemade sweet rolls at Christmas time. Alan was a founder and scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 720 at Fort Worth Country Day School. He was very proud of the scouts he helped teach life skills and of the numerous scouts who obtained the rank of Eagle. Scouting allowed him to pursue his love of the outdoors and almost 100 nights of camping with the Scouts in south and far west Texas through Oklahoma, Colorado, Minnesota and Canada. A special thanks from the family to Tammy, Michelle and Maria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Audis Nathan and Carolyn Burk, and his brother, Jim. Survivors: Former wife and forever friend, Teresa Burk; sons, Ashton Burk and Jared Day and wife, Lynsey, and their children, Morgan, Joseph and Collier; brother, John Burk and wife, Stephanie; nieces, Tiffany and husband, Eric, and Jennifer; nephews, Justin and wife, Christine, Jonathan and Thomas.
