Albert DeRoy "Al" Lewis Obituary
Albert "Al" DeRoy Lewis, 67, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 5, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. Cryptside service: 10 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Mausoleum. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Greenwood. He had one sister, Susan. Al attended the University of Texas and graduated from Texas Christian University. Upon graduation, he joined the Air Force and became a missile launch officer. After that, he returned to Fort Worth where he raised two children, Dina and Andrew, and remained devoted to his wife, Brenda, for 46 years. Al was known for his tremendous intelligence, endless intellectual curiosity and easy-going sense of humor. His talents and knowledge were extensive, and he spent many hours behind books, mandolins, guitars or workbenches. He will be remembered most, however, for his devotion to his family and friends. Al was preceded in death by his father, DeRoy Lewis; mother, Bernice Lewis; sister, Susan Lewis Patton; and mother-in-law, Dessie Matthews. Survivors: His wife, Brenda; daughter, Dina Paul and husband, Kortney; son, Andrew Lewis and wife, Amanda; grandchildren, Sadie Paul, Cooper Paul and William Lewis; many nieces and nephews; and beloved friends and extended family.
