Alice Belew Lonsdorf, beloved wife of Richard G. Lonsdorf, M.D., of Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, Pa., died peacefully at her home Thursday, April 10, 2014, with her husband of 64 years at her side. Celebration of life: 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Waverly Heights, 1400 Waverly Road, Gladwyne, Pa. 19035. Condolences may be sent to the family at this address. Memorials: It was Alice's wish that memorial donations be made to the Autism Society, 4340 East-West Highway, Suite 350, Bethesda, Md. 20814, www.autism-society.org. Alice was born in Fort Worth and graduated from the University of Texas with a BFA in fine arts. She was the assistant dean for alumni affairs at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and was well known throughout the Philadelphia area for her many accomplishments including being a founding member and president of Friends of Independence National Historical Park, president of the Junior League of Philadelphia, a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania and president of the Women's Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She was a noted decoupage artist. She was preceded in death by her parents, David O. Belew and Maizie Erskine Belew; sister, Maizie Belew Johndroe; and brother, Judge David O. Belew Jr., all of Fort Worth. Survivors: Her husband, Richard; sons, George, David and Robert; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
