Allen Herpin Obituary
Allen Herpin, 85, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Allen Herpin was born Oct. 20, 1928, to Gaston Herpin and Evie Bell in Kaplan, La. He grew up with sisters, Hazel and Della, and in high school, started participating in boxing. He joined the U.S. Army at the end of World War II as part of the 1st Infantry Division, and was stationed in Europe where he continued boxing. He boxed throughout his army career where he won several titles. Eventually he left the army and made his way to Fort Worth where he met Nancy. They were married in 1968 and had two children, Tim and Chris. He had a long career as a manufacturing engineer and retired from Bell Helicopter in 1995. Allen's hobbies were boxing, wood work, hunting and golf. He spoke English and French, and was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Survivors: Son, Timothy Herpin and wife, Lisa; son, Christopher Herpin; sister, Della Adams; and grandchildren, Aiden and Landon.
