B.G. "Bill" Farrel Obituary
B.G. "Bill" Farrel, 83, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home. Memorials: Can be made in Bill's name to First Christian Church of Arlington or a . Billy Gene Farrel was born in Sayre, Okla., on Jan. 20, 1930, to W.R. "Buster" and Christine Farrel. He graduated from Sayre High School in 1947, then attended Oklahoma University majoring in civil engineering. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served in Korea during the Korean War. He married Louise Minton in Sayre on April 29, 1951, and they were blessed with 55 years of marriage until her sudden death in 2006. They moved to Arlington in 1956 with their precious identical twin daughters, Darla and Donna, then 4 years old. He was an active member of Arlington First Christian Church, serving in numerous capacities including deacon, elder, chair of elders and moderator of the board and congregation. He worked as a manufacturing engineer at Chance Vought Aircraft for seven years and at Bell Helicopter for 42 years. He was the chief of manufacturing engineering projects on Bell's V-22 Osprey program for 10 years. In February 2011, Bill married Carolyn Hudspeth and thoroughly enjoyed the last 2 1/2 years of his life with her. He loved golf, bowling, bridge and fellowship with his family, church members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife of 55 years, Louise. Survivors: Wife, Carolyn Hudspeth Farrel and her family; daughters, Donna Turner and husband, Greg, and Darla Farrel; granddaughters, Jennifer Stehlik and husband, Steve, Jessica Rupert and husband, Matthew, and Brenda Kirkland; grandson, Brandon Spencer and wife, Andrea; great-grandchildren, Collin Kirkland, Myah Rupert, Jillian Rupert, Preston Spencer, Brooke Spencer and Emma Stehlik; sister, Kay Fenimore and husband, Floyd; nephews, Chet Fenimore and wife, Victoria, and Todd Fenimore and wife, Susan; and a host of cousins and friends.
