Bill W. Gardner Obituary
Bill W. Gardner, 78, passed peacefully into the next life Sunday, June 1, 2014. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. No visitation scheduled. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the First Baptist Church of Burleson Building Fund, 317 W. Ellison St., Burleson, Texas 76028. Bill was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Walnut Springs to Tobe C. and Thelma McCauley Gardner. Bill spent most of his childhood living at Meridian State Park where his father was park director. He attended school in Meridian, graduating from Meridian High in 1954. Upon graduating, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Beth Holt, a classmate from Meridian whom he had known since the age of 5. God blessed their marriage of 56 years with three children, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Bill moved his family to Burleson in 1962, working and residing in the area until his death. He worked in auto sales most of his adult life. Bill was an avid golfer and was a charter member of Mountain Valley Country Club in Joshua. He also enjoyed watching Texas Rangers baseball and college athletics. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth; daughter, Patty Gardner Mercer; and brothers, T.C. and Charles Gardner of Amarillo. Survivors: Sons, Dan Gardner and wife, Christi, Jimmy Gardner and wife, Kathleen; grandchildren, Toby Gardner, Kimberly Schwalk and husband, Brad, Zachary Mercer, Chris Graves and wife, Jordan, Kaylon Martin and husband, Will, Casey Graves and wife, Katie, Kayla Gardner, Emily Chavoya and husband, Ethan, Erin Chapman and husband, Kobee, and Matthew Gardner; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Judy McNeill of Stephenville; and extended family and friends.
