Cecil Knox Baker, 92, passed away Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, in Fort Worth. Graveside service: with military honors 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Home. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to a . Cecil was born March 14, 1922, in Justin to Martha and Clyde Baker. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Cecil was the supply sergeant at the Nuremberg war crimes trials. After the war, Cecil served in the Army National Guard until he retired in 1981. Cecil was an avid bowler and golfer. "Pappy," as he was affectionately known in the bowling world, was a lifetime member of the U.S. Bowling Congress. He was inducted into the Fort Worth Bowling Hall of Fame in 1974 and the Texas State Bowling Hall of Fame in 2003. He has bowled two 300 games. The Cecil Baker Men's Bowling League was named in his honor and he served two terms as president of the Fort Worth Bowling Association. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, a daughter and a son. Survivors: Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Edna; son, Robert; brother, Bland and his wife, Pat; a number of nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
