Cortell King Holsapple Jr. Obituary
Cortell King Holsapple Jr., a physician, died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013. Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following the service, friends and family will gather to celebrate his life at Trinity Terrace, 1600 Texas St., Fort Worth. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to a . C.K. Holsapple was born June 16, 1925, in Minburn, Iowa, son of the late Lucille MacAdams and Cortell King Holsapple Sr. A graduate of Texas Christian University, he earned a medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1948 and served for a brief time in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. Dr. Holsapple served as chief of medicine and chief of staff for both Harris Hospital and John Peter Smith Hospital. He was a member of the board of trustees of the Tarrant County Mental Health/Mental Retardation Center, past president of the Tarrant County Heart Association as well as the North Texas Chapter of the China Stamp Society. He practiced internal medicine at the Fort Worth Clinic where he was well respected by his colleagues and loved by his patients. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Maryanne. Survivors: His children, Duffy Anne Chapman and her husband, Ray, Rex Holsapple and his wife, Gay Simmons; grandchildren, Ramee Gentry and her husband, Mike, Kate Montgomery and her husband, Monty, Jane Long and her husband, Nick, Emily Townsend and her husband, John; great-grandchildren, Nick and Nora Gentrey, and Nixon and Vivian Long.
