Elmer Leon Daniel Obituary
Elmer Leon Daniel, 77, was called home by God Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. Memorial service: 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Crosspoint Presbyterian Church, 1283 Deer Valley Drive. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Another memorial service will be held in Bakersfield, Calif., at a later date. Leon was born and raised in Fort Worth and graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High in 1957. He went to the University of Texas where he received a B.S. degree in petroleum engineering. That degree took him to the oilfields of Midland; Tripoli, Libya; Lagos, Nigeria; Aberdeen, Scotland; and Bogota, Colombia. He eventually was promoted to vice president of engineering, Production and Construction for Occidental Oil in Bakersfield, Calif. That job kept him traveling around the world until he retired twice, the second time when he formed Gente Oil with four of his ex-Oxy friends. Leon was a passionate fisherman, and an avid golfer and skier. Survivors: Wife, Ann; children, Mike, Larissa and husband, David, Suzanne and husband, Steven; and grandchildren, Deysi, Lindsey, Kaitlyn, Daniel and Emma.
