Emory Eugene "Gene" Clark Obituary
Emory Eugene "Gene" Clark, 83, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014. Memorial service: will be held in his honor at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Gene will be interred Tuesday in a family service in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any donations be made in Gene's name to the Old Guard of the Army, oldguard.org, or to a veterans' organization of choice. Gene was born Jan. 24, 1931, in Opelika, Ala. A proud Korean War veteran, Gene retired as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. He completed Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Ga., before shipping out to Korea. After returning from active duty in Korea, Gene was an officer of the Army's Old (Honor) Guard, where he presided over the changing of the guards at Arlington Memorial Cemetery from 1954-1956. He received the Korean Service Medal, United Nation Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. After his Army discharge, Gene began his civilian career in the insurance industry in Los Angeles, Calif., and later served as an agency manager in Honolulu, Hawaii. Gene became a certified financial planner and licensed broker in Fort Worth, serving a national clientele. He loved serving his clients and friends, finally retiring from A.G. Edwards/Wells Fargo at the age of 80. Gene was a role model for his sons, offering love, kindness and wisdom. Gene was a man of integrity and compassion. He was devoted to his wife and family, and is sorely missed by all. Survivors: His devoted wife, Jean Clark of Fort Worth; sister, Bobbie Odou of Montebello, Calif.; sons, Steven Clark and wife, Sharin, of Dallas and Michael Clark and wife, Diane, of El Lago; grandchildren, Jennifer Duffy and husband, Zac, Daniel Clark and wife, Carolina, Jessica Clark and Christopher Clark; great-grandchildren, Jackson Duffy and Tristan Clark; sister-in-law, Charlotte Brouillette of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews.
