Harry Joseph Jekel Obituary
Harry Joseph Jekel, 81, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Harry, the son of Clarence and Mary Jekel, was born in Louisville, Ky., on June 3, 1933. He was a retired golf club maker, spending 20 years at Hillerich and Bradsby in Louisville doing what he loved. Prior to Hillerich and Bradsby, Harry proudly served as a radio operator in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On his favorites days, he could be found cheering on his Kentucky Wildcats, or waiting on his horse pick to cross the finish line on a Kentucky track. He died surrounded by his family and those who loved him most. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; and is now reunited with his daughter, Tracey Jekel. Survivors: Wife and love of 61 years, Norma Brown Jekel; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Beverly Jekel; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Sally Jekel; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Richard Hayes; son, Kenny Jekel; sisters, Maggie Kress and Barbara White; grandchildren, Eric Jekel, Tarah Hayes, Jessica Edwards, Cassandra Greenwald, Michael Kirchner, Michele Kirchner, Andrew Mantecon, Joey Mantecon, Fonda Perry, Chance Warren and Jenny Marsh; and seven great-grandchildren.
