Henry Carter Pletch Obituary
Henry Carter Pletch, 76, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel. There will also be a memorial service on the east coast at a later date. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Hank's name to the or . Hank was born June 2, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., to Lillian and Fredrick Pletch. He had a bachelor degree of science in engineering from UCLA. He was instrumental in the early space program at Cape Canaveral and Huntsville, Ala. Hank worked with the U.S. Navy at Dahlgren, Va. Hank moved to Fort Worth in 1986 to work at General Dynamics. Hank loved Fort Worth; its people; his wife and best friend of 50 years, Dottie; his sons; and his family. Hank will always be remembered for his love of learning, reading, crossword puzzles as well as classical and bluegrass music. He reveled in sharing his knowledge and life lessons with those around him, and most of all, his beach vacations with his family. During his extended illness Hank received excellent and loving care at Harris Methodist Southwest. The family would like to thank Dr. Maldonado, Dr. Barrera, Dr. Nghi, Dr. Anna, Dr. Artim and Dr. Kimberly Eden, as well as the many nurses and staff who are too numerous to mention. They not only cared for him but made sure Dottie was cared for as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Lillian Pletch. Survivors: Wife, Dorothy S. Pletch; sons, Heinrich Carter Pletch and wife, Donna, Eric Thomas Pletch and wife, Lynn, Derek Edward Pletch and wife, Amy, Stephen William Pletch and wife, Allisyn; grandchildren, Samantha, Carter, Cody, Morgan, Ella, Anna, Max, Oliver and Julia Pletch; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Carson Pletch; sister, Nina Reilly; brother, Fredrick Pletch; sister-in-law, Sue Knight and husband, Rodney; brother-in-law, Billy Spicer and wife, Bobbe; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
