Homer Jones Jr. Obituary
Homer Jones Jr., a longtime resident of Fort Worth, reached perfection through Jesus Christ on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, surrounded by his family. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Julius L. Jackson Jr. officiating. Burial: Laurel Land Cemetery. Visitation: 1 to 7 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Baker Funeral Home. Homer was born in Corsicana, the oldest of seven. He graduated from GW Jackson High School and enlisted in the Army where he served for two years. In 1958 he married Clarence Reen Hicks and to this union one child was born. Homer moved his family to Fort Worth, and served as a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was most proud of his work as an assembly worker for General Motors where he never missed a day of work in 35 years. Homer never met a stranger, loved to laugh, enjoyed watching old westerns and a good boxing match, and will be most missed for his humorous stories and superior mechanic skills. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years. Survivors: His daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Debra and David Woody; his devoted grandchildren, Jordan and Justen Woody; his mother, Lillie Mae Jones; siblings, Jeweline Hunter, Frances Bethany, Charles Jones, Joyce Battle, Shirley Andrews and Dewayne Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
