Ignacio Lopez Nunez Obituary
Ignacio Lopez Nunez passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013. He was just shy of his 93rd birthday on Sept. 29. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Worth. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Greenwood Funeral Home. Ignacio was born Sept. 29, 1920, in Los Angeles, Calif., and spent his youth in Tijuana, Mexico, until the premature death of his parents. He then lived with relatives in Colima, Mexico, where he became a schoolteacher. He returned to Tijuana to teach and subsequently returned to San Diego, where he was drafted and served with the U.S. Army Air Forces in Europe in World War II. After completing 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he worked in electronics and taught himself higher math, he moved his family to Fort Worth, where he worked for General Dynamics until his retirement from there. He then worked in engineering for Don and Shirley Cosgrove, his dear friends, until his late 80s. He was proud of his two sons, Ignacio, a physician, and Jose, an engineer. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen Trujillo Nunez. Survivors: Son, Jose Nunez and grandchildren, Eric and Deanne Nunez; son, Ignacio T. Nunez and wife, Lynda, and grandchildren, Stephanie Via, Charles Petsch, Karly Bobo and Katy Winter. He was grandfather to seven great-grandchildren with another great-grandson due in October.
