James Gary Henkel Obituary
James Gary Henkel came into this world prematurely and left this world prematurely on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Hideaway Harbor RV Park in Yantis. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of East Texas. He was born in Matador on June 19, 1946, and was raised in Quitaque. After serving his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War for three years, nine months and nine days, he went on to work for A-1 Mobile Homes first as a salesman, then a general manager, then a regional vice president. He then went on to own several different businesses. He was an avid outdoorsman all of his life. His love of hunting and fishing was only eclipsed by his love of his family. Survivors: His wife of 41 years, Carmen Lee Henkel; children, Heather Lee Henkel of White Settlement, Robert Gary Henkel of Denver, Colo.; dachshunds, Hawkeye and Sophia; mother, Wanda McClintock of Yantis; sister, Shelia Boyette of Garner, N.C.; nieces, Tara Boyette and Tammy Boyette Kelly; and nephew, Todd Payne.
