Jeanette Marie Powers, 42, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, in Arlington after a long illness. Celebration of life: Family and friends will celebrate Jeanette's life at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Midlothian Funeral Home with Lane Mershimer officiating. Memorials: Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 105, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Jeanette was born July 20, 1970, in Bitburg, Germany, to a military family. Her early years were spent growing up and learning in Albuquerque, N.M., and Wichita Falls, where she graduated from Hirschi High School. In 1992, Jeanette earned a U.S. Air Force dental assistant certificate and worked as a dental assistant for four years. She received an associate of science in business management degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in Indianapolis, Ind. She continues her studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she was a member of the pre-law chapter of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. For 10 years Jeanette worked at GM Financial, previously Americredit Financial, as a funding specialist and then as credit review analyst/fraud investigator. She also trained new hire fraud investigators. While applying her knowledge of fraud, research and investigative skills, Jeanette received numerous awards and accolades for her work. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Arlington. She taught Sunday school and served in the eucharistic and liturgy ministries. Jeanette was a cherished loving daughter and mother. Her daughter, Hannah, was the most important thing in her life. Being kind-hearted and unselfish, Jeanette rescued several cats and dogs and kept them as pets. Her smile and humor made it a pleasure to be around her. The joy that Jeanette gave her family for 42 years cannot be measured. She will be greatly missed by all but has gone to be with her heavenly Father. Survivors: Daughter, Hannah Anstead; mother, Patricia Powers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; father, John T. Powers and wife, Fran, of Wichita Falls; brother, John P. Powers and children, Haley, Karley and Conner of Helotes; grandmother, Jean Powers of Green Springs, Ohio; stepbrother, Jason M. Bone and wife, Jamie, and children, Allison and Travis of Spring; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
