Jimmy Don Franklin Obituary
Jimmy Franklin went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 11, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Travis Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Midlothian Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations to Gospel for Asia or Mercy Ships. Jimmy was born June 27, 1944, in Los Angeles, Calif. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1962 and was a 1966 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington. He and Peggy Sumner were married in 1968 and he enlisted in the Navy in 1969. He was member of the Navy Construction Battalion (Seabees). Jimmy and his late wife, Peggy, went to China in 1998 as missionaries. During their 15 years in China, they shared the news of Jesus with all those they met. As a result of their witness, more than 1,000 people came to faith in Jesus Christ. Survivors: Son, Danny Franklin; daughter, Amy Franklin Hooton; grandchildren, Taylor, Bryanna and Chazz; three brothers and three sisters and their families.
