Joe Burgin Obituary
Joe Dan Burgin, 88, went on to glory on the evening of Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Service: to honor the life of Joe will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, 5725 Colleyville Blvd., in Colleyville. Interment: For those who are able to attend, the burial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Maple Springs Cemetery in Newsome. Joe was a longtime resident of Colleyville and was born on Aug. 24, 1925, to Joe Ben and Bessie Mae Burgin in Newsome. He was a private in the United States Army, serving in the 331st Field Artillery Battalion, earning an Asiatic Bronze Star and the Pacific Campaign Ribbon of Good Conduct. After returning from the war, Joe worked hard as a truck driver for American Petrofina and married his sweetheart, Patsy Jo, on June 21, 1975. Joe was a very popular resident in the city of Colleyville. Friends and neighbors were almost always guaranteed a glimpse of the blue-eyed farmer in his overalls and cowboy boots standing in his driveway waving to every car that passed by in the evenings. He loved to garden and share his crops of fresh vegetables with anyone who stopped by. His friendly spirit will be missed by many. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Ben and Bessie; brother, John Kenneth; and sister, Mattie Burgin Rhodes. Survivors: He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Patsy Jo; brother, JW Burgin; son, Danny Burgin; grandchildren, Jacob and Mandy; a great-grandson; and many friends and neighbors who loved him.
